HC Slams Cop

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday rebuked a police inspector for deliberately not lodging a gangrape case despite repeated complaints by the victim. The court also dismissed the inspector's petition to get the FIR against him quashed.
Inspector Gurmeet Singh, who was the SHO of Gokulpuri police station when he refused to lodge an FIR even when the victim and her husband brought one of the accused to him in January 2005, was slapped with an FIR on the direction of a sessions judge for fabricating records to shield an offender. When Singh refused, a Special Executive Magistrate wrote several times to the police officials to pay heed to the victim's complaint. Subsequently, the FIR was lodged.
