Here's a new and innovative method to protect your children from viewing abusive content online. A software development firm having development centres in the cityu00a0 and Pune has launched free-to-use software that will replace abusive language automatically.
This software which is free to download on the company's (www.hover.in) website blocks abusive and swear words by replacing them with other words that still make sense. Aimed at being educational, the website also helps to convert text into any language and pictures representing the meaning of a word appears when the mouse cursor hovers over it.
Naveen Agarwal, CFO of PR firm Edelman, said, "I think it's quite interesting and also useful especially when you have kids. As a parent, I'll definitely check it out." He added, "And I also think it's great that it's free."
Shiv Kumar, director, Catalyst Management Services, said, "As a parent, I very much approve of it. With so many reports of online abuse, I think it's a brilliant idea."
Sudha Natarajan, President (north and south), Lintas Media Group, said, "The software is extremely essential for parents. I'm sure many would even pay to buy it but what if the child is viewing a pornographic website. It'd be great if there was a restriction on the websites that were being viewed."
The software which hit the market in June of this year has already been downloaded 3000 times, 500 of which have been in India.
