Another accident that perhaps typifies the brazenness of high-profile youths in the city who feel they can get away with just about anything. The incident took place late on Saturday night at around 2.30 am, when a speeding Volkswagen rammed into a truck at Andrewsganj area of Delhi.

Two boys and three girls were in the vehicle at the time of the mishap but they miraculously escaped without any injuries. When some news channels arrived on the spot to cover the accident the occupants of the car started abusing them.

One of the girls even allegedly slapped on a camera to stop the coverage which broke the equipment and a fierce argument ensued with abusive language between the reporters and the accused. Some cops arrived on the spot but they didn't arrest the accused, and only tried to end the brawl which however continued for a while.

"We received information about the mishap and on reaching the spot I saw a Black Volkswagen that had rammed into a truck and the airbags had been released because of the impact. Some boys and girls were standing near the car. When my cameraperson started covering the incident one of the girls hit the camera and started abusing the press reporters. The cops intervened but they didn't arrest the accused at that time and the occupants fled from the spot in a Scorpio car," said Mohit Raj Dubey, a news channel reporter who covered the incident.

The cops had earlier lodged an FIR of rash and negligent driving against unknown persons. But later they identified the car and arrested the driver.

"We verified the car and found that it belonged to a businessman in west Punjabi Bagh area, W arrested the driver Avnish Singh. Avnish is the son of the businessman. The accused was released later as it's a bailable offence," said a police officer.

"There is no complaint from the press and if we found any cop guilty in the case we will take action against them," the officer added.
