Tata Sons has sent a legal notice to filmmaker Ranjan Kamath for mentioning Ratan Tata's name in an online petition.
The online petitionu00a0 that objected to telecom biggies endorsing Narendra Modi as the next prime minister has reportedly been signed by over 2,200 people.
Switching off
It asks people to switch off their Tata Indicom, Reliance and Airtel cellphones and broadband connection on January 30 as a mark of protest.
Kamath received the legal notice on Monday evening by email. The notice says that the online petition gives an erroneous impression that Ratan Tata had endorsed Modi as the next prime pinister. "We are amazed to read such blatantly misleading reference to Mr Tata's name alongside Mr Anil Ambani and Mr Sunil Mittal," it says.
The notice also says that the petition had recklessly distorted and misrepresented Ratan Tata's statements.
When contacted, Kamath said that he could comment only after consulting a legal advisor. "After all, I am taking on the mighty Tatas," he said.
