The Press Council of India has come out in support of Karavali Ale editor-in-chief B V Seetaram who was arrested by Udupi police. The council has constituted a two-member committee to conduct an inquiry.
It has also asked for a report from the state chief secretary and has written to the chief minister, requesting him to ensure that Karavali Ale is able to discharge its functions without any threat or fear.
Seetaram had alleged that the BJP government was targeting him the paper criticised the government.
