An information officer with the Forest Department has resigned, allegedly because he was public humiliated by Forest Minister Patangrao Kadam.

Prabhakar Kukdolkar, the information officer, sent his resignation letter to his seniors. "Our efforts are to improve the image of the Forest Department, but our minister is publicly humiliating us by criticising us and calling us inefficient," Kukdolkar said in the letter.

Working as assistant public relations officer, Kukdolkar also headed a publication for the Forest Department in the Pune region.

The closing ceremony of Forest Week at Bharati Vidyapith was compered by Kukdolkar. Kadam allegedly pointed out Kukdolkar and said such officers spoke like parrots and prevented government programmes from being successful. "These officers are cheating in the name of enforcing government agenda," Kadam allegedly said.

After the programme, Kukdolkar submitted his resignation to seniors in Nagpur.

"I have completed 29 years of service in the Forest Department and have never been criticised openly by any minister in the past," he said. "We don't mind getting criticised privately by the minister if we are really in the wrong."

Kukdolkar said he had taken the decision to put in his papers as Kadam had humiliated him at least four times in the recent past at public functions.u00a0
