22-year-old found killed after confronting two men misbehaving with his sister at Navratri celebrations

During Navratri revelry on Saturday night, 22-year-old Manoj Kasbe found his festive mood evaporate as he saw some men eve-teasing his sister. An angry Kasbe confronted the men and made them stop doing it, but the matter did not end there. Kasbe was found murdered yesterday morning, allegedly by the people who had misbehaved with his sister the previous night.
Kasbe's body was found at the Akurdi railway station.
The police said the murder was the outcome of the brawl that took place on Saturday night.
The fight began when two young men, Raju Uttam Hirve and his brother Vijay, misbehaved with Kasbe's sister during a dandiya event. Kasbe was murdered in cold blood and his body dumpedu00a0 in Akurdi.
Corporator's sons?
The police believe the culprits may be the sons of a local corporator. According to the police, Raju accidentally hit Kasbe's sister during Navratri celebrations, which led to a serious fight. The crowd present was witness to the entire incident.
Many stab wounds
A case of murder was registered at the Dehu Road Police station. Initial investigations found Kasbe's body had several stab wounds.
Police sources said Kasbe was kidnapped by the Hirve brothers on Saturday night. Kasbe was missing from home in Dalvinagar since Saturday night. His mother Shalan lodged a missing complaint the next morning. MiD DAY tried to talk to the family, but its members were too shocked to speak.
Police Inspector Nitinkumar Gokave of the Dehu Road police station said, "Kasbe had a fight with Raju Uttam Hirve and his brother Vijay when the two allegedly tried to misbehave with Kasbe's sister during dandiya celebrations. We suspect the two are behind his murder. They allegedly kidnapped him from a place near his residence and took him to an isolated spot and allegedly assaulted him with a sharp-edged weapon."u00a0
Gokave added, "When Kasbe's body was found, weu00a0 recovered his PAN card and cell phone from his trouser pockets. We identified Kasbe from the documents we recovered from him. We found his father's mobile number on his cell phone. Even as we contacted the family, it was already at the Chinchwad police station to register a missing complaint."
The Dehu Road police searched the Hirves' residences in Valhekarwadi and Dalvinagar, but both places were locked.
