Sandipan Chanda joint winner in Dubai

Indian Grandmaster Sandipan Chanda drew with overnight co-leader Miezis Normunds of Latvia to claim the tied first spot in the 14th Dubai International open chess tournament yesterday.

Chinese Ni Hua emerged the winner with the best tie-break in a five-way tie which also included the Georgian pair of Baadur Jobava and Mikheil Mchedlishvili.u00a0Following a lucky win over Parimarjan Negi in the penultimate round, Chanda resorted to a safe positional game to share points with Normunds.
