Suranjoy Singh and Dilbagh Singh sailed into the second round of the senior national boxing championships here Sunday.

Suranjoy Singh and Dilbagh Singh sailed into the second round of the senior national boxing championships here Sunday.


Suranjay of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) beat N. Shaik of Karnataka 7-0 in the 52-kg category while Dilbagh from Railway Sports Promotion Board defeated Pradip Ghosh of Madhya Pradesh 13-3 in the 69 kg category on the second day of the tournament at the Talkatora Indoor stadium.



In other results, SSCB's Jai Singh Patil defeated Jharkhand's Amit Karki 4-1 in the 69 kg cateogory. In the 60 kg category, Beijing Olympic quarter-finalist Akhil Kumar got a walkover from Shyam Singh of Tripura as the latter was medically unfit to compete.


Jai Bhagwan, who was also unfit to take the ring, gave a walkover to Ankit Tokas of Himachal Pradesh in the 60 kg category.
