After Brazil and Argentina suffered losses at the World Cup, Kolkata is in mourning. It's as if Kolkata has lost the World Cup. From Sourav Ganguly to P K Banerjee everybody is upset. Ganguly, a fan of Brazil and Maradona, said: "My World Cup has ended. This result was unexpected and I still can't believe my two favourite teams have lost and got knocked out from the World Cup. I'm sad as the charm is gone."
Former national football coach P K Banerjee said he can't believe this result either. "Dunga and Maradona made tactical mistakes. Especially Argentina, their defence was very weak and they did not look threatening on the counter where as Germany's football was based on high speed attacking and that broke the Argentina side. No doubt, Brazil and Argentina's eliminations were huge upsets, but we should appreciate Germany and the Netherlands. Both the teams are contenders for final berth now. This WC has been very unpredictable," said Banerjee.
