England captain Rio Ferdinand will miss the World Cup after suffering a knee injury in training.

Ferdinand sustained ligament damage to his left knee in the final minutes of England's second training session after their arrival in Rustenburg.

Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba may also miss the World Cup after suffering a fractured forearm in yesterday's game against Japan that they won 2-0.
