Indian badminton legend Prakash Padukone revealed that he cherishes his wins over Indonesian legend and idol Rudy Hartono more than any other during his illustrious career.
"I still cherish those wins. Even though Rudy was past his prime, it still wasn't easy to beat him. To beat a player of his stature was very special because it came on odd occasions," Padukone told MiD DAY on the sidelines of the felicitation function yesterday.
Padukone beat Hartono in the Swedish Open tournament in 1980 and then went on to beat him again in the All-England in 1981. Hartono wasn't surprised that Padukone beat him. "I knew one day he would beat me. He was the best stroke player in the world. He had the right attitude, also changed his training and that is why he could beat me.
"He was also much younger than me," Hartono quipped.
