Earlier in the day, India resumed at the overnight 153 for three and added 235 runs before they declared the innings after taking a slender 13-run lead.
England, in their second innings, were struggling at 32-2, losing openers Harry Brook (16) and Max Holden (13). Daryl Ferrario (1-08) and Harsh Tyagi (1-1) shared the wickets between them.
