A decision on whether Chennai will host India's Davis Cup tie against Australia next month will be taken after an International Tennis Federation (ITF) meeting on April 17.

"There is an ITF Davis Cup Committee meeting on April 17. It will be decided there only if the tie has to remain in India or not. We will be knowing only on Friday. We are hopeful that the tie will remain in India," All India Tennis Association secretary Anil Khanna told PTI.

AITA will be a part of the proceedings in the ITF meeting through teleconferencing. Australian players like Lleyton Hewitt are reluctant to come to India for the May 9 to 11 tie owing to security concerns after the Lahore terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers.

Tennis Australia, taking note of the players' concerns, had requested the ITF to shift the tie out of India, a proposal that was vehemently opposed by AITA.

AITA has made it clear that Australia has to play in India or forfeit the tie as India would not accept playing on a neutral venue.
