First-half goals from Felipe Caicedo and Shaun Wright-Phillips last night proved enough to give Manchester City a 2-0 lead to take into the second-leg of their UEFA Cup tie with Aalborg next week.

Aiming to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in 30 years, the Blues went into the lead through Caicedo in the eighth minute after which Wright-Phillips rocketed home a classy second on the half hour. City chief Mark Hughes believes his side have done enough. "We got a positive result and clean sheet. Overall it was a very good European performance."
