Aravinda slams Tillakaratne

Batting legend Aravinda de Silva, who was questioned for match-fixing during the latter stages of his career, has lashed out at Hashan Tillakaratne for alleging that Lankan cricket is still plagued with match-fixing.u00a0"These things (like match-fixing) are a part of the system.

It is hard to look past them at times, but as players, all we could do was giving it our all. Our team, which included Hashan, was a tough team. It is a little disappointing that people are willing to look past the good performances and the joy we have given to the Sri Lankan public as a cricket team," said De Silva.u00a0

When asked if lucrative tournaments like the IPL had eradicated match-fixing, De Silva said: "Who knows? Just like the sport has evolved, even these things have evolved. These days there is talk about spot-fixing, and not match-fixing. As far as I am concerned, it is unfair to question the credibility and commitment of players. It's also not fair to wake up one morning and make such strong allegations."
