Maha cabinet approves renaming of 2 key sea links after Savarkar, Vajpayee

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday announced that Versova–Bandra Sea Link will be named as Veer Savarkar Setu and Mumbai Trans Harbour Link to be renamed as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Nhava Sheva Atal Setu. The decision to rename MTHL was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Other than this, Maharashtra cabinet also decided to expand the limit of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yogana from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh. Last month, Eknath Shinde, had announced that Versova-Bandra Sea Link will be named after Savarkar. The decision was approved by the cabinet today.The upcoming Versova-Bandra Sea link will connect Andheri to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link as part of the coastal road project. The MTHL will connect Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. The construction work of the sea link is expected to be over by the end.

Maharashtra Chief Minister paid floral tribute to Veer Savarkar on his birth anniversary on May 28. CM Shinde announced to name Bandra-Versova sea-link bridge after VD Savarkar. He said, “Bandra-Versova sea-link bridge will be named after VD Savarkar and will be known as Veer Savarkar Setu.”
