On the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War at the National War Memorial in Delhi. This day commemorates the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil conflict of 1999, when soldiers reclaimed Kargil's peaks from Pakistani infiltrators. The war, which lasted from May to July 1999, saw significant sacrifices from the Indian Army.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a press conference on April 07. During a press conference in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Defence Minister outfoxed the reporters with his witty and humourous replies. Be it the question on the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 result or Pakistan’s remark on the General Elections, Singh gave chucklesome answers to the reporters which left then cracking. Rajnath Singh said, “When results will come, see the margin… If there was no democracy, you wouldn’t be able to ask questions now… Let it be…Don’t compare us with Pakistan,” said Rajnath Singh. Days after, MV Chem Pluto, a merchant ship, was hit by a suspected drone strike in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast on Dec 23, India has issued a stern warning to the attackers of the merchant vessels near the Indian sea borders. Defence Minister, in an event in Mumbai, openly said about the India drone strike that “they will hunt down the culprits from the bottom of the sea.” Moreover, Indian Navy also assured that they will take ‘robust action’ and will intensify monitoring. Notably, 20 Indians were onboard the ship during the incident that took place 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. While, no one has claimed responsibility for the drone strike in the Arabian sea, US Central Command claimed that the drone attack was fired by Iran-backed Houthi militants. Houthi forces in Yemen have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, claiming the attacks as revenge against Israel. However, the Indian Navy on Dec 24 clarified that it wasn’t an India-flagged vessel, as claimed by the US earlier. India, a strong advocate for the free movement of commercial shipping, is monitoring these attacks.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with Minister of National Defence of Vietnam General Phan Van Giang on June 19. The bilateral talk focused on furthering the defence cooperation between India and Vietnam. The two also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Notably, General Phan Van Giang is on a two-day visit to India from June 18 to 19.
