A powerful winter storm has plunged large parts of the eastern United States into a dangerous deep freeze, disrupting daily life and straining critical infrastructure. Freezing temperatures, heavy snowfall and widespread ice have left millions facing power outages, travel shutdowns and emergency restrictions. According to the BBC, at least 20 deaths have been linked to the extreme cold and snow as authorities continue investigations and emergency response efforts. Nearly 20 states are currently under emergency orders, with more than 140 million people impacted by weather warnings spanning from the Southern Rockies to New England. WATCH

MLK weekend travel has hit a major roadblock as a powerful winter weather system sweeps across the eastern half of the United States, disrupting both air and ground transportation. From the Great Lakes through the Northeast and into parts of the South, travellers are facing widespread delays, cancellations, and hazardous road conditions during one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year. According to FlightAware data, more than 3,200 U.S. flights have been delayed, while close to 95 flights were cancelled as snow, ice and strong winds impacted major travel hubs. Nearly 48 million people remain under active weather alerts, with conditions evolving rapidly across several states. WATCH
