The skywalk at NS Phadke Road in Andheri (East), near the Western Express Highway, is nearing completion. Construction of the skywalk began after the new flyover, connecting Gokhale bridge, was opened. Once ready, the skywalk will ease pedestrian movement in the area (PICS/ASHISH RAJE)

The MMRDA spent Rs 900 crore to construct 36 skywalks in Mumbai, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and reduce traffic congestion. Despite the significant investment, the skywalks are largely underused, with pedestrians preferring to walk on roads instead. (Pics/Satej Shinde)
