Indian Army conducts Anti-Tank Guided Missile Firing in Sikkim

Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army conducted a training exercise, involving the firing of anti-tank guided missiles. The exercise was conducted at a super high-altitude area of 17,000 feet in Sikkim on April 12. Missile-firing detachments from mechanised and infantry units of the entire Eastern Command participated. The exercise encompassed comprehensive continuity training and live firing from different platforms. It included moving as well as static targets which depicted actual battlefield conditions for the commandos. The ATGM system's performance in high-altitude environments reaffirms the aim of 'Ek Missile Ek Tank'.

Flash floods wreak havoc in Sikkim; claim 26 lives

Flash floods have wreaked havoc in the north-eastern state of Sikkim. As per Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, the death toll from flash floods in Sikkim has reached 26. A total of 142 people have been reported missing. Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang visited flood-affected areas of Mangan’s Naga Village and interacted with the victims of flood. The Mangan district has been allotted a relief package of Rs 25 crore. NDMA, SSDMA personnel and dedicated volunteers are tirelessly engaged in rescue and relief operations. As per an SSDMA report, 2,413 people have been rescued, and 1,203 houses have been damaged. CM Tamang chaired a high-level meeting at his official residence in Mintokgang on Oct 05.
