‘Wear Your White’ protest kicks off at Mumbai suburban railway stations - WATCH

On Thursday, August 22, passengers on the Central Railways' Sundarban network staged a protest against poor train services. They wore white attire and black armbands or masks to express their dissatisfaction. This demonstration came after a meeting on August 14 between passenger associations and railway officials, where the concerns were discussed, and potential solutions were proposed. However, the associations found the meeting's outcome unsatisfactory, leading them to organize the protest. Siddhesh Desai from Mumbai Railway Pravasi and Madhu Kotian, president of Mumbai Rail Pravasi Sang, both voiced their frustration on behalf of the passengers. The protest is expected to intensify after 10 am. To rally support, the associations distributed 25,000 black ribbons to passengers. Their demands include reducing overcrowding, giving priority to local trains, and establishing a dedicated suburban railway transport body. The demonstration highlights ongoing issues and seeks immediate improvements in train services.
