What if you enter a little cafe for a hot cup of coffee and you are greeted by someone from the third gender who brings you the menu? Your coffee will still taste good and your blow dry will still make you look polished. But will you be pleasantly surprised or apprehensive? “We have seen all sorts of reactions”, says Zoya - manager at the Trans Cafe in Mumbai - who manages a restaurant run by the Transgender community. Shyamali - a member of the transgender community who works as a stylist at the transgender-run Transformation Salon in Prabhadevi shares similar thoughts. As many as 14 people died and 74 people were injured after a massive hoarding collapsed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar on May 13. A team of NDRF carried out rescue operations. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh to the victims’ next of kin. RTI Activist Anil Galgali has demanded action against those who are responsible for the tragic incident. Fueled by Pakistan’s economic crisis, protests have rocked PoK due to clashes between protesters and authorities. People are on streets against skyrocketing inflation and violent protests have left at least 3 people dead and 90 injured. The protest is being led by Awami Action Committee which demanded tax-free electricity from Mangla Dam and subsidies on wheat flour. Clashes ensued between law enforcement and protesters in Muzaffarabad, Dadyal, Mirpur, and other parts of PoK. While tension has heightened in PoK, Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating world’s largest festival of democracy. Years after article 370 was abrogated, people in Kashmir queued up to exercise their franchise and be part of democratic process. Home Minister Amit Shah has said, “Modi government's decision to abrogate Article 370 is showing results”. The HM’s remarks came a day after about 38 per cent polling was recorded in the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency. India has remained resolute on its resolve that PoK is an integral parts of the country. Recently, EAM Jaishankar made big statement and said “PoK will be part of India”. Speaking on violence in PoK, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that “he felt sorry for Pakistan’s people”.

Amid the Lok Sabha Polls in India, voices to merge Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has grown louder. Time and again, India has remained resolute, calling entire Jammu and Kashmir including PoK as part of India. Meanwhile, anti-Pak protests in several regions of Pakistan’s illegally occupied Kashmir have rocked the neighbor. People in the region, particularly the younger generation, have confronted Pakistani forces on the streets. Clashes have also ensued between security personnel and protesters in Muzaffarabad, Dadyal, Mirpur, and other parts of PoK. Amid the unrest, Political Activist Amjad Ayub Mirza appealed to India to focus on PoJK as the situation is getting out of hand there. Taking a step ahead, he said that India must not follow the footsteps of previous regimes by ignoring PoJK. Earlier on April 04, EAM Jaishankar reiterated India’s stance and said “we will never accept that PoK is not an integral part of India”
