Former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been arrested in connection with last year’s deadly Gen Z protests, just a day after Balendra Shah took oath as the new Prime Minister. Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was also taken into custody as part of the investigation. A judicial commission recommended prosecution for negligence, linking the leaders to the violent crackdown that left at least 76 people dead and more than 2,500 injured. Authorities say the arrests mark the beginning of a justice process, while supporters of Oli have called the move political revenge.

After massive Gen Z protests and riots left Kathmandu’s power structure in ruins, Nepal’s Supreme Court has reopened inside temporary white tents. Burnt vehicles and debris scattered across the courtyard bear witness to the arson, vandalism, and unrest that engulfed the capital. Despite the chaos, court staff are issuing new hearing dates, determined to keep the justice system alive amid destruction. The makeshift tents, now officially serving as courtrooms, represent both resilience and desperation in the face of political turmoil. WATCH
