US President makes controversial remarks on India and Pak, White House defends

US President Joe Biden’s “xenophobia” comment on May 01 at a fundraiser campaign triggered a diplomatic row. US President said “xenophobia” from China, India, and Japan is stopping the economic growth of these countries. President Joe Biden made this controversial remark while advocating for the US immigration policy. He said, “Folks, this election is about freedom, America, and democracy.  That’s why I badly need you. You know, one of the reasons why our economy is growing is because of you and many others.  Why?  Because we welcome immigrants.  We look to — the reason — look, think about it.  Why is China stalling so badly economically?  Why is Japan having trouble?  Why is Russia?  Why is India?  Because they’re xenophobic.  They don’t want immigrants.”  The remarks, from Joe Biden came after The White House hosted Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for a State visit. Notably, The White House welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a state visit last summer. However, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre defended President Biden’s statement. She said that the President’s comments were part of a broader message emphasising the strength of America's immigrant heritage. Our allies and partners know very well how much this President respects them...He was making a broad comment speaking about this (US) country, speaking about how important it is to be a country of immigrants and how it makes our country stronger. Notably, The US will go to polls later this year, and country's economy, immigration are the top issues for voters.

The promise that I made to Rajiv Gandhi, used to come in between and hence I did not leave the party...I also thought that the person who does not know how to respect people who stood with their grandparents, mother, father...leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kamal Nath, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Digvijaya Singh and Anand Sharma used to stay with Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. They were the people who held the hands of Rahul Gandhi and made him learn how to walk.
