23 January,2023 04:40 PM IST | United KingdomPakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York in the UN Meeting. This was in response to India’s EAM S Jaishankar’s comments on state sponsorship of terrorism, targeting Pakistan. Bhutto called Prime Minister Modi, ‘butcher of Gujarat’. While condemning Bhutto’s remarks, India responded with a letter calling this comment a ‘new low even for Pakistan’. "These comments are a new low, even for Pakistan. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan has obviously forgotten this day in 1971, which was a direct result of the genocide unleashed by Pakistani rulers against ethnic Bengalis and Hindus. Unfortunately, Pakistan does not seem to have changed much in the treatment of its minorities. It certainly lacks credentials to cast aspersions at India," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The Pakistan Foreign Minister's "uncivilised outburst" seemed to be a result of Pakistan's "increasing inability to use terrorists and their proxies," said the ministry. Union ministers also condemned the comments, calling Bhutto’s ancestors responsible for terrorism. Union Minister Anurag Thakur called this act shameful. Meanwhile, BJP supporters protested outside the Pakistan embassy condemning Bhutto’s remarks.
