The 110-year-old Sion bridge in Mumbai has been closed to traffic as of Thursday, August 1, for a two-year period. The Central Railway has initiated the bridge's demolition and reconstruction, which is anticipated to last until July 31, 2026. The project aims to extend the bridge's length to accommodate new railway lines, costing approximately Rs 51 crore. The demolition phase alone is expected to take four to five months.
