A farewell function in the honour of Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul was organised on Dec 15. At the function, CJI DY Chandrachud quoted poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz to bid farewell to his colleague & friend for over 47 years. At the Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul’s Farewell, CJI Chandrachud congratulated Justice Kaul for his enormous contribution to Indian judiciary especially in the Article 370 repeal case. Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul stressed the need for the judges to exhibit boldness, since they have Constitutional protection.

On Tuesday, 17 October 2023, a five-judge Supreme Court (SC) bench refused to grant legal recognition to same-sex marriages. The bench had assembled to pronounce verdicts on pleas seeking legal validation for same-sex marriage. Supreme Court Bar Association president Adish Aggarwala while talking to the media, said, "I welcome the decision of the Supreme Court where they have not allowed same-sex marriage".

The Supreme Court on October 17, 2023, is pronouncing its judgment in a series of petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage. The Constitution Bench is headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on September 14 quoted his friend who was of the view that watching live hearings on YouTube is better than watching a movie on Netflix. CJI Chandrachud said, “A friend once told me, a few days back in fact, watching one of these live hearings on YouTube was better than watching a Netflix movie on occasion.”
