The early release of 11 prisoners convicted for the gang rape of #BilkisBano and murder of at least seven persons, including her three-year-old child, during the 2002 Gujarat riots has triggered protests across the country. On August 28, Mumbaikars too came out in solidarity with Bilkis Bano demanding the revocation of the convicts’ release at Bandra’s Carter Road promenade. Disha Ravi, a 21-year-old youth climate change activist from Bengaluru, was arrested by the Delhi Police on 13th February in connection with the farmers’ protest ‘toolkit’ case. In a show of solidarity, a protest was held in her support in Mumbai’s Bandra at the Carter Road Amphitheatre at 4 pm on 15th February. Mid-Day went to the site of the demonstration and spoke to some of the protesters. Watch this video to find out what happened.
