The BMC will temporarily move Byculla Zoo’s Humboldt penguins from public display during June to August to expand their enclosure. The upgraded habitat will increase capacity from 25 to 40 birds, enhancing living conditions as part of the zoo’s aquarium expansion project

The tender, floated in the first week of December 2025, pertains to the construction of a dedicated exotic animal section on around 10 acres of land adjacent to the existing zoo. However, the civic body has so far not received any bids for the project
