Israel-Hamas War: Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu heckled in Parliament

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was addressing the Israel’s Parliament on December 25. During his address, The PM said, “Israel would not succeed in freeing hostages without military pressure”. Hostages' family members sitting in the chamber, holding posters intermittently interrupted him. "Now! Now! Now!" the family members of Hamas hostages shouted during the Knesset session. A deal brokered in late November by the US, Qatar, and Egypt saw the release of more than 100 hostages. Around 240 hostages were taken captive to Gaza during an attack by Hamas militants on Oct 7. Three Israeli hostages were killed mistakenly in Gaza by Israeli forces earlier this month. On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel from Gaza. Approximately 1,140 people lost their lives in the assault, with the majority being civilians in the Israel-Hamas War.

Israel-Hamas Conflict: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu raises alarm amid war

Amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting with the foreign Ambassador on Nov 06. He told 80 foreign ambassadors that his country was engaged in a global battle against 'an axis of terror' led by Iran. Speaking in Tel Aviv, PM Benjamin Netanyahu warned if the Middle East fell then Europe would be next. Israel pounded Hamas in Gaza with more air, ground attacks after the October 07 surprise attack by the militant group. Israel has struck Gaza from the air, imposed a siege and launched a ground assault, stirring global alarm. As per health ministry in Gaza, at least 10,022 Palestinians have since been killed, including 4,104 children in retaliation.

Israel-Hamas Conflict: Israeli PM Netanyahu rejects calls for ceasefire

There seems to be no chance of a ceasefire in sight as the Israel-Hamas conflict gets ugly. Scores of people including children have been ruthlessly killed in Gaza after Israel started a crackdown in the region. The IDF continued to pound Hamas hideouts, including the mystic tunnels, and destroy them PM Netanyahu on Nov 05, rejected calls for a ceasefire in Gaza until all 240 hostages captured by the militants are released. He also met the Israeli forces at the air force base and asked them to remove ‘ceasefire’ from their lexicon. Notably, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant warned Hamas and vowed to assassinate Hamas top leader Yihyeh Sinwar. Earlier in the day, thousands of protesters gathered to march down the streets of Washington DC calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. As per the IDF, 2,500 terrorist targets have been attacked in combined activities of its ground and air forces in the Gaza Strip. More than 9,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since Oct 7, while 1,400 people were killed in the Hamas attack on Israel.

Israel-Hamas Conflict: PM Netanyahu reacts on India’s stand on UN resolution

India on October 27 abstained on a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on Israel-Hamas conflict. UNGA adopted resolution calling for a humanitarian truce, protection of civilians, upholding legal and humanitarian obligations. While reacting on the subject, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the resolution deeply flawed. He said that no civilised country including India and others will tolerate the horror that unfolded in Israel. The breakdown of the recorded vote included 120 members in favour and 14 against, with 45 abstentions. Besides India, countries that abstained included the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan and Ukraine. Israel has launched a massive counterstrike against Hamas after ‘surprise attacks’ by militant group on Oct 7.
