India is advancing into aircraft manufacturing with the goal of becoming a global hub in the sector. Civil Aviation Minister Naidu emphasized the drive to produce indigenous planes, with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at the forefront, leveraging its experience with a 119-seater aircraft. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be established, consisting of industry experts to manage the development of domestic aircraft, while initially sourcing some components and engines externally. The SPV will identify and address gaps in India's aviation infrastructure over the next five years. Major players like Airbus and Boeing might collaborate, bringing their expertise to bolster the domestic industry. Additionally, the Narendra Modi Government plans to enhance Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, supporting the broader development of India’s aviation sector.

19 June,2024 05:05 PM ISTIn a historic milestone, indigenous LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft on March 28 completed its first flight. The aircraft airborne for 15 minutes during its first maiden flight, as per Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Currently, two squadrons of IAF, 45 Squadron and 18 Squadron, are fully operational with LCA Tejas. HAL has current capacity to build 8 LCA aircraft per year, this is being increased to 16 aircraft's every year by 2025. In coming years the capacity will be further increased to 24 aircraft every year in the next 3 years. Over Rs 9000 crore have been sanctioned for the development of LCA Mk 2, an updated and advanced version of LCA Tejas. Earlier in the 2023, Air Chief Marshal stated that the Indian Air Force aims to replace the MiG-21 fighter jets with LCA Tejas.

The viewers were left speechless as IAF’s famed aircrafts like Apache, Sukhoi and Rafale pulled off dangerous stunts in the sky. In the ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the National Flag at Kartavya Path. The ceremony was followed by the National anthem and a 21 Gun salute. President Droupadi Murmu was given the national salute by the President's Bodyguard at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan.
