Raksha Bandhan 2024: Celebrations across India begin, locals tie Rakhis to Army

India’s festival celebrating the bond of brother-sister love Raksha Bandhan 2024 is being celebrated in India today with a lot of fervour. Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created sand art at Puri Beach to mark the occasion. Just like each year, in the Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir, locals tied Rakhi and offered sweets to the Army personnel in Soni village along the LoC. BJP women workers and women from social organisations tied Rakhi to Tripura CM Manik Saha in Agartala. On the other hand in in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat- Women tied 'Rakhi' to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel.

Raksha Bandhan 2024: Gujarat govt supports women entrepreneurs with free stalls

In Gujarat, the state government is offering women a unique opportunity this Raksha Bandhan by providing free business stalls in Surat. As part of the initiative, Surat Municipal Corporation has allocated 101 stalls at no cost to women, generating 1010 direct jobs. Additionally, the government is supporting these entrepreneurs with loans ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 to aid in setting up their Rakhi stalls. The initiative also includes training through "Sakhi Mandal" to ensure women acquire essential skills for successful business operations. This effort aims to empower women and enhance their economic prospects during the festive season. A Rakhi seller said, “Govt is giving women like us to move forward in our lives. We get these kinds of opportunities in Rakhi Mela, and Navaratri Mela. We also get loans according to our need to purchase materials. Because of these stalls we get new recognition.”
