Notably, Imane Khelif who’s a biological male was banned from competing in world championships following failures in testosterone and gender eligibility tests. The match sparked a gender row drawing adverse reactions from fans all around the world questioning the gender of Khelif. Post Backlash, IOC responded to controversy over Algerian Boxer Khelif stating ‘Every person has right to practise sport’.

In a big shocker for India, India's ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat on whom high hopes were pinned to grab gold being on the cusp of ultimate glory in the Paris Olympic Games has been disqualified from the competition entirely. Vinesh, who was competing in the 50kg freestyle wrestling category, has been disqualified from the competition, for weighing over the limit for her event. Vinesh usually competes in the 53kg category but brought her weight down to 50kg for the Paris Olympics 2024. On Day 2 of her weigh-in, however, Vinesh was found weighing over the desired limit by 100 gms.
