Holi 2024: People in India celebrate Holi with full zeal

On the eve of Holi celebrations, ‘Holika Dahan’ was celebrated across the nation. From Kolkata to Rajkot, people celebrated this auspicious occasion with great enthusiasm. Devotees performed ‘puja’ during ‘Holika Dahan’ in Kolkata. A fair was organised in Gujarat’s Rajkot district on ‘Holika Dahan’. People adorned each other with colourful ‘gulal’ in Ayodhya on the eve of Holi. Bhubaneswar witnessed a great Holi fervour as youth drenched themselves by splashing colours on each other. Notably, Holika Dahan is a ritual that symbolises the victory of good over evil which involves lighting bonfires, signifying the burning of the demon Holika. Holi also known as the "Festival of Colours," is a vibrant festival celebrated with enthusiasm across India. Amidst the revelry, traditional sweets are shared, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.

The vibrant and joyous festival of Gudi Padwa was celebrated by Hoisting the traditional Gudi and prayer to it on the New year for the Hindus on Gudi Padwa in Mumbai on 9th of April. People were seen participating in the Shobha Rally. Women were seen dressed in traditional attire and  participated in the Rally to mark the Marathi New Year Gudi Padwa. They danced their hearts out on the beats of dhol and nagadas. The festival was celebrated with full vigor and enthusiasm. Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are going on in full swing. On September 8, the Shrimant Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple witnessed an impressive congregation of over 42,000 women, who came together to recite the Ganpati 'Atharvasirsa' prayers as part of the Ganeshotsav celebrations. This event marked Rishi Panchami, the second day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, highlighting the spiritual significance of the occasion. Women from across the city donned traditional attire and assembled early in the morning to partake in the ritual, demonstrating their devotion and reverence. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival, renowned for its vibrant celebrations, honors Lord Ganesha as the deity of new beginnings, wisdom, and obstacle removal. Mahesh Suryawanshi, Treasurer of the Dagduseth Halwai Ganpati Trust, proudly noted that their collective effort was recognized by India World Record, which awarded them a certificate for this extraordinary feat. The event underscored the deep cultural and religious significance of the festival.
