A 25-year-old Indian was injured when a bomb he was allegedly carrying exploded in farwestern Nepal early today, police said.

Narendra Kumal, a resident of Ghaziabad town in India's Uttar Pradesh state, was carrying the home-made bomb when it exploded around 5 am injuring him. The incident occurred in Guleriya town in Bardiya district.

Kumal has been admitted to the district hospital in Guleriya, police said.

An investigation will be held into his antecedents and how he came across the bomb, police added.

The nearly 1,800 km open border between Nepal and India has been a cause of mounting security concern with armed groups and criminals freely crossing over and committing crimes.
