Heavy monsoon rains have claimed 194 lives in Himachal Pradesh, with Mandi, Kangra, and Kullu worst hit. As per official data, over 28,000 livestock have died, 579 homes destroyed, and public infrastructure losses stand at Rs 1,852.52 crore. Roads, transformers, and water supply schemes remain severely disrupted.

After the flash floods disrupted parts of Uttarakhand, the intense monsoon has now taken over Himachal Pradesh as its new target. An intense spell of rain has resulted in the deaths of 194 people. The heavy rain has also caused extensive damage across the state, according to a cumulative loss report issued by the Department of Revenue-DM Cell, Government of Himachal Pradesh.
As reported by the news agency ANI, covering the period from June 20 to August 5, 2025, the report highlights significant loss of life, widespread destruction of property, and severe impact on public infrastructure. Out of the 194 reported fatalities which have been recorded, 108 deaths occurred due to rain-related incidents, including landslides, flash floods, and drowning. However, the remaining 86 deaths were attributed to road accidents during this period.
While some parts of Himachal Pradesh observed lower fatality, the Kangra district recorded the highest number of rain-related casualties at 25, followed by Mandi with 23 deaths and Kullu with 10.
