In two separate incidents, people pelted stones at buses traveling from Mumbai to Hubli in Karnataka on Monday night. Both buses belonged to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The first incident took place as the bus was entering the Swargate depot at 6 pm, while the other happened in Katraj.

Soon after the incident at Swargate, security was beefed up there. No one was injured in either of the incidents.

According to Vijay Diwate, Senior Depot Manager, Swargate depot, the incident happened around 10.30 pm. "A large stone hit the window close to the door, and damaged it. Nobody could make out the direction the stone came from."

Soon after the incident police officials from Swargate police station were deployed on the spot. Rajkumar Gaikwad, Senior PI, Swargate Police Station told MiD DAY, "We will have officials accompanying the passengers until city limits."

Officials from depot said that inter-state buses services would remain closed for the next three days throughout the state. "We cannot take any chances," confirmed an official.
