PM meets senior ministers after Ayodhya verdict

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh began a meeting with senior ministers here Thursday to discuss the implications of the Ayodhya verdict, which has gone in favour of a temple.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee are attending the meet, official sources said.

The meeting will review the law and order situation in the country in the wake of the judgment.

Initially the meeting was planned as a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). But it was changed as key members of the CCS - Defence Minister A.K. Antony and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna - are away in the US on official visits.
