Man rescued by fire brigade personnel, wife and daughter missing
A woman and her four-year-old daughter were feared died after their car fell into a ten-foot- deep canal in Bawana area of Outer Delhi on Sunday Night.
The woman's husband was rescued. While the police said that the couple and their one child were travelling in the car, fire brigade officials put the number of occupants at four, with the woman and two children missing. A senior police officer said that Amit Singh a resident of Daryapur Village in Bawana is an MCD officer was returning back home after a long drive along with his wife Manju and daughter when he met with the accident.
"Amit was returning back in his Esteem car along with his family. When he reached near the Bawana canal in Daryapur village all of a sudden a heavy vehicle appeared before them. Due to the sharp beams of that vehicle Amit lost his vision for a moment and lost control of the vehicle. In a bid to avoid collision he took a sudden turn and the car fell into a deep canal. A call in this respect was received at around 9:10 PM," said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, a fire brigade official said that rescue operations were in full swing to find the other occupants. Divers had been sent in and boats and a crane were also being used in the operation.
"We have not found Manju and her daughter who might have been drowned," said a fire official.
