Madani yet to be questioned

Cops wait for the ailing Madani to recover; claim they have ample evidence to nail him.

"Considering his health, we have not started questioning him yet," said a senior officer adding that they wanted to question him about his visit to Coorg and the telephonic conversation between him and T Nazeer, the blast kingpin.

Abdul Madani has been allowed to perform his rituals for Ramzan and has been provided with dry fruits and necessary diet and medication to keep him in good health.

"We are planning a confrontation between Nazeer and Madani to record their statements, the officials said. Madani's questioning will be video-recorded which will later be used as evidence. The Central Investigating Agency may also join the police in the questioning.

Meanwhile, prosecution officials confirmed that they had ample evidence to nail Madani, including the telephonic conversations between Madani and Nazeer.

Madani's counsel, Mohammed Usman said that the main focus of the prosecution would be Madani's visit to Coorg, but as per available official records, he never went there. Moreover, the mobile phone that the police consider as evidence belongs to Soofia, Madani's wife.

However, the prosecution is positive that Soofia herself confirmed before the police that though the phone belonged to her, Madani used her phone often.

Madani, who has been housed in City armed Reserve (south) quarters is being monitored by a team of doctors since he is suffering from multiple ailments. He has been allowed to perform his rituals for Ramzan and has been provided with dry fruits and necessary diet and medication to keep him in good health.
