A girl student of MIT Junior College who was hospitalised on August 30 after going through severe mental trauma because of alleged ragging by three of her classmates was discharged yesterday.
MNVS demand
The Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) approached MIT Junior College principal Dr Rohini Patwardhan yesterday to demand the inclusion of an independent member in the committee appointed by the educational institute to investigate the matter.
“The college has constituted a seven-member committee to investigate the case, but our demand is that there should be an independent member in the committee who is not associated with college,” MNVS Kothrud chairperson Sudhir Dhavde said. “As the case concerns ragging, there should be a member from an NGO, the police or anyone related to the social field.”
Dhavde said the MNVS wanted proof that there was an independent member in the committee. “The pricipal said there is one such member in the said committee, but as she didn’t reveal the name of the member, we can’t believe it just now,” Dhavde said. u00a0Patwardhan was unavailable for comment.u00a0
