A group of young engineers is making a film about meltdown and Satyam fiasco; starcast is being shortlisted online

Recession has taken over our lives. And now it is all set to take over the silver screen as well. A soon-to-be launched short feature film on the global meltdown is being directed by the young engineers of the Delhi College of Engineering to help the audience understand the economics of it better.
The starcast is also being chosen in the true techie way. The group of about 30 members behind probably the world's first movie on recession started an online competition at https://www.ibibo.com/ called "jactor".
Participants are required to submit their credentials online from which a select group of students will be shortlisted for auditions.
The 1.5-2-hour-long film is based on a short story, The Bet, written by renowned author Anton Chekov and the storyline revolves around recession and the Satyam corruption issue.
Shooting for the movie will start on February 23 and is scheduled to go on till March 10.
The film will be shot exclusively in Delhi and will feature India Gate, Old Fort, Khan Market and the Gurgaon Expressway prominently.
"The entire casting and scripting team consists of students who have been into theatre and have experience of acting in music videos and college fests etc. We chose this story because we wanted to go beyond the realms that have been explored by students earlier," said Surender, one of the producers of the movie.
"It will be our first step towards serious cinema," Surender said.
An NGO called First Time Film Makers (FTFM), who have 51 short movies to their credit, is providing technical assistance to the group.
Ibibo.com CEO Ashish Kashyap said young actors can upload their videos enacting any scene from a Bollywood movie or any creative performance and be a part of the student's initiative.
