Now it seems flowerpots at some Games venues are in danger.

A Faridabad advocate was booked by the Delhi police for allegedly trying to steal some of the plant stands from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.
Police sources said that the advocate, identified as Rakesh Gupta, had come to the stadium with his family for some work. On his way out, he noticed the flowerpots at the venue that had been placed there for the Commonwealth Games.
"While he was placing three flowerpots in the dickey of his car, an additional secretary -appointed by the Prime Minister before the Games - pointed it out and sought an explanation from Gupta," a senior police officer stated.
Maharaj Singh, who is the official complainant in the case and also the security in-charge, was also present there. "The advocate was caught red- handed and a call to the Police Control Room (PCR) was made," police officers said. A case of theft was registered at the Lodhi Colony police station and further investigations are on. The advocate was later granted bail.
The cost of each flowerpot is said to be about Rs 200-250."When asked the advocate told us that he liked the flowerpots and their design and that is the only reason why he wanted to take them with him," the officers stated.
Police sources said that it was only at the additional secretary's insistence that a case was lodged against the lawyer as he could have been let off by the police.u00a0

| Meanwhile, there have been reports that more than 50,000 flowerpots planted by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been either stolen or destroyed. According to sources, these flowerpots were planted by the civic agency for the beautification of the city during the Commonwealth Games. The MCD has denied any such incident. |
