Karnataka pushes power initiatives

The electricity department in Karnataka is taking various initiatives to ensure additional capacity of around 2,000 MW power in the state, K S Eshawarappa Minister for Energy, said.

The 2,000 MW would be an addition of this year's total capacity of 7,000 MW, he told media, after holding a review meeting here today. There were plans to generate additional 3,000 MW of power by 2011 in the state, he added.

Various power projects to be taken by the state government were discussed in the meeting.
