After the MiD DAY story, official who forgot to sign 3-year-old-boy's passport has rectified his mistake

MiD DAY had reported yesterday about the mess created by passport authorities, which the passport holder Sabhi's family has termed to be an eye opener for negligent passport officials.

Three-year-old Mohammed Sabhi Mulla's family is a relieved lot after getting the valid passport. His family terms the whole episode to be 'horrible', and recall that they would have ended up in trouble hadn't they noticed the mistake.

"We have got a valid passport at last, and are glad that officials accepted their mistake and rectified it," said Sabhi's father Mushtaq Ahmed Mulla.

At last

Sabhi Mulla and his parents, would have faced serious consequences had they travelled to Sinagapore on May 23 as scheduled, with the passport sent to them by the Regional Passport Office with the signature missing.

The family has applied for a visa after officials, who had earlier forgotten to sign the passport, signed after Mulla approached them.

"Passport office officials didn't even allow me to meet concerned official, said Mulla, adding, "I had to quarrel with security personnel even to get inside. However, they realised their fault later and signed in the blank space."

The Passport Office staff who corrected their mistake were not available for comment.
