Sources at Victoria Hospital confirmed the cases of attempted suicides and said that the last two days saw a lot of suicide activity.
"We had two cases where people tried to commit suicide by setting themselves on fire.

Both of them have suffered major burn injuries but are struggling to live and under careful observation," said an official from the hospital.

In another case of attempted suicide, an unidentified youth took an overdose of sleeping tablets.u00a0
The hospital official added, "Another teenager consumed rat poison, as he was unhappy with his parents. He was upset that his parents refused to buy him a two-wheeler for college purposes."
On Sunday night, the city's two major hospitals Victoria and Bowring were inundated with suicide cases.

Seven cases of attempted suicide were registered marking it the highest in a day in six months. Out of the seven, four died and the remaining are currently in the ICU.
