We don't know about the coffee, but the desserts at this new Bandra cafe pack a sweet punch
When we walked into this almost-roadside coffee place (its got bar seats and a pastry and sandwich counter) that's part of the Asian Wok restaurant at Carter Road in Bandra (West), we didn't expect much.

Our excitement nose-dived further when we were tersely told that coffee would not be served for another week. Thankfully, the absolutely scrumptious Choco Nuttie Cake (Rs 75), more than made up.
Full marks to this delicious combination of Cadbury Nutties atop an oh-so-soft pastry that crackled (quite literally) with a sprinkling of nutties inside too. Yummy.
The sandwiches didn't look too appetising, so we reluctantly settled on Chicken Garlic Sandwich (Rs 50) and a Spinach Corn Sandwich (Rs 40).

The former was a complete disappointment, marred by rookie gaffes like tough, unevenly garnished bread, and barely any chicken to speak of.

The Spinach Corn fared slightly better but didn't exactly rock our boat once again, tough bread making the generous intermingling of spinach and corn fall quite flat.
Time for dessert again, we thought, opting for Blueberry Cheese Cake (Rs 95), a Chocolate Mousse (Rs 40) and a Gooey Chocolate Pastry (Rs 95).

With the exception of the mousse, which tasted so terribly stale that we had to ask for a replacement from the sheepish waiter who admitted to it not having been a fresh piece, the other two desserts were fabulous.

The slightly over-sweet cheesecake nevertheless, had us licking our lips and fighting for pieces of the crust, and the just-right Gooey Chocolate was as gooey and sinful as they come. Highly recommended.

The replacement mousse wasn't stale, but our taste buds, scarred by the previous experience, didn't take to it too kindly. Forgettable.
Some tinkering and tweaking with the food and space, and we think Kalypso might come of age. For now though, it's a tad lost in this locality of food behemoths
