A man identified as Ganesh Kaushalram Halmare (25), a resident of Hinjewadi hanged himself at his residence around 9.30 pm on Monday night.

The incident was reported at the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) hospital, Pimpri around 12.20 am and the doctor on duty declared him dead on arrival.

Halmare was staying with his sister who works with a software company. The brother-sister duo hailed from Bhandara and were staying the city for the last one year.

According to Rohan Palve, his sister's friend, they had just reached office and logged in, when she got the call.
A neighbour of the family pointed out that Halmare suffered from alcohol addiction and he was upset because of some family tension. "He was drinking heavily and we suspect that this could have prompted him to take such a drastic step," he added.

His sister who was present at the hospital was in a shock state and was being consoled by her friends.
