Inauspicious lunar period drives the CM to virtually keep the Vidhan Soudha doors closed

As a result, the eastern side was closed on Wednesday, and the visitors including politicians had to use the back gates from the west side. However, all the gates were closed yesterday, as it was a holiday for government offices on account of the Amavasya.

"The gates are closed yesterday because it is a holiday," said a government official who works at the Vidhan Soudha. "I don't know what the logic behind closing them on Wednesday was." The main victims of the action were judges of the high court who are housed in the building opposite Vidhana Soudha. They use the front gates, while going home in the evening. They had to take the long road around the building amid peak traffic.
"The gates were closed not because of astrological advice.

There was hectic political development in the wake of the ongoing crisis and we thought traffic must be restricted," said ISN Prasad, principal secretary to the CM.As it was not enough, priests at the Rahu temple in Khumbakonam near Madhurai in Tamilnadu have claimed that their prediction has came true. They reasoned that the reason for the crisis were incomplete rituals performed by Yeddyurappa there last month.

"We had warned that he may lose power if the ritual was not properly completed," said a priest. "All our fears came true -- we are witnessing the crisis exactly on the next Amavasya within a month."u00a0A source close the CM said, "He was aware of the fact and therefore decided to visit Bhagavathi temple near Kannoor in Kerala yesterday, to perform a special pooja. He visits the temple once in every month, and he believes that the pooja would ward off the evil.

The CM, while visiting Shankaralinge Gowda, who allegedly attempted suicide at Legislator's Home, said, "Today is an Amavasya. I believe all the bad things that we have witnessed are because of that. We must believe in god and pray for the good."

High voltage drama

>>The political drama continued. Two of the BJP rebels returned to Yeddyurappa camp in the afternoon. Speculations were rife that BJP was poaching legislators from Congress and JD(S), that pushed the respective parties to take them to hideouts.
>>Meanwhile, rebels led by excise minister Renukacharya arrived at a hotel in Goa, with Tourism Minister G Janardana Reddy paying a visit. Reddy managed to clinch the deal with the rebels and Renukacharya expressed solidarity to the government.
>>JD(S) state president H D Kumaswamy also arrived to meet the dissidents, but left after heated arguments, without any result.
>>Then came the Speaker's order, suspending three MLAs from the Opposition late night, for their misbehaviour in the house last year. The speculation was that it was in a bid to reduce the Opposition's strength for the vote of confidence, that CM is expected to seek on Monday.
